Machine Shop Supervisor

Description

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in machine ship activities (i.e. machining, burnishing, shot blasting, etc.) by performing the following duties. Has the organizational freedom and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the product, process and quality system.

Responsibility and Authority

This position is responsible to the Operations Manager. The Operation Manager is responsible to define the requirements for this position.

Duties

Programming and maintenance of all machines.

Managing department and production needs.

Will initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to the product, process and quality system.

Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crews.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.

Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.

Maintains time and production records.

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Sets up machines and equipment.

Report machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.

Performs activities of employees supervised.

Trains and certifies employees within department.

Member of Operations Team and participates in team projects and problem resolution.

Qualifications

Training in Just In Time and Kaizan processes.

Good communication skills, ability to interact with people at all levels of M/P organization, suppliers and customers.

  • Proficient in use of Master Pneumatic computers

Ability to read blueprints

Proficient in the set up and operation of conventional machining equipment

Must conform to all company policies.

Mazatrol or MasterCam experience required.

Experience with Mazek and Haas machinery
