Long-Term, Permanent Opportunity An Experienced Bookkeeper

Raleigh based bookkeeping firm is adding on to their team and is looking to hire an experienced bookkeeper.  This position will handle the accurate and timely financial recordkeeping of approximately thirty clients’ accounts, including recording financial transactions, reconciling bank and credit card statements.  Duties will be performed primarily using QuickBooks software, whether desktop or online.  Other accounting software may be utilized as well depending on client and industry.


Primary responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements and reports, including the profit and loss statement and balance sheet
  • Bring current all banking, credit card, and all other financial transactions for each client no less than every other banking day
  • Assist with budget preparations
  • Record payment of bills and maintain ledgers
  • Record receipts of paid receivables
  • Keep track of client assets
  • Record all client payroll activity
  • Communicate with client on questions pertaining to bank and credit card activity
  • Reconcile all prior month bank and credit card accounts by the 10th of each month
  • Prepare sales tax returns (primarily NC)
  • Prepare ad hoc report as needed for clients
  • Work across sometimes several various software systems
  • Generate 1099’s
  • Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested by clients and partners

Qualifications and skills

  • Two years experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Two years or more of experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks
  • Experience in services related to bank and credit card reconciliation
  • Able to prepare schedules and reports as needed by clients and partners
  • Strong oral and written communication skills needed
